Willie B. “Neil” Hill, 52, died May 27, 2009, at his residence in Columbus. Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Stephen Chapel MB Church with the Rev. Joe L. Peoples officiating. Burial will follow at Sandfield Cemetery. Visitation is today from noon-6 p.m. at Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus. Mr. Hill was born Jan. 1, 1957, in Noxubee County to the late Bennie W. Hill Sr. and Mable Joiner Hill. He was formerly a laborer at Johnston Tombigbee Furniture. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepbrother, John Jefferson; and one granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, Josie Mae Hill of Columbus; stepmother, Gussie Jefferson Hill of Columbus; daughter, Melissa Harris of Columbus; a son from Massachusetts; sisters, Mary Wells, Lourine Brewer, Callie Cowans and Georgia Sherrod, all of Columbus, Betty Hill of Boston and Annette Bland of Chicago; brothers, Dennis C., Bennie, Willie, Sammie L. and Henry Hill, all of Columbus; stepsisters, Ruth Richey, Vera Parker and Ola Mae Jefferson, all of Columbus, and Gloria Billups of Tacoma and Seattle, Wash.; stepbrothers, Pastor Glenn Jefferson Sr. and Gerry Jefferson, both of Columbus; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Nate Weatherspoon, Cornell Gandy, Raymond Scott, Alfonso Smith, Harry Henry, Willie Foote and Mike Jones.
