COLUMBUS — Willie “Bubber” Gordon, 69, died June 5, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at West Lowndes High School, with Joe Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at St. John M.B. Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. today, at the funeral home. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gordon was born July 8, 1951, in Columbus, to the late William Gordon and Rose Coleman Gordon. He was a graduate of Motley High School and formerly employed with Johnston Tombigbee Furniture Company. He was a member of St. John M.B. Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Gordon; and siblings, Willie Mack Coleman, Julius Webber, and Queola Fenton.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Gordon; children, Tabitha McCarter and Teskesia Gordon, both of Brooksville, Toby McCarter of Huntsville, Alabama, Sheba Morgan and Beverly Smith-Jernigan, both of Columbus; siblings, Johnny “Jack” Gordon, Mary Penson, Josiephine Stewart, Emma Spade, Bertha Pate, Sallie Hood, Rosie Webber, Daisy Smart, Linda Stevenson, and Louise Moody; and nine grandchildren.
