WEST POINT — William Roy “Bill” Dexter, 78, died Oct. 27, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. RC Bryan and the Rev. Dale Funderburg officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Robinson Funeral Home. Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Dexter was born Oct. 12, 1940, to the late Elizabeth Christian and Roy Dexter. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving as a MSgt. He was formerly employed with the U.S. Postal Service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Doni Dexter White. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Dexter of West Point; sons, Todd Purvis of Dallas, North Carolina and Stephen Purvis of Middleburg, Virginia; daughters, Debbie Moore and Danell Ray, both of Hamilton, Alabama, Lisa Purvis Bird of Fort Mill, South Carolina and Carol Faulkner Childs of Maben; brothers, Donny Dexter and Bobby Dexter, both of West Point; 12 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Miller, Curt Benson, Chris Benson, Derick Childs, Joe Markin, Lawrence Frye, Jerry Bowen and Terry Swetz.
