William Chapman

TUPELO — William “Bill” Carrol Chapman, 77, died April 9, 2022, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at First Baptist Church in Starkville, with Albert Bisson officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is from 1-5 p.m. today, at Hairston and Hairston Funeral Home. Hairston and Hairston Funeral Home of Starkville is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Chapman was born Jan. 19, 1945, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Elmo Birdshaw Chapman and Hilda Lillian Reese.He was a graduate of Druid Hills High School, Emory University, Reformed Theological Seminary and Mississippi State University. He was formerly employed operating Crown Specialties Incorporated, writing software customized for pharmacists and an accounts receivable program, in contract computer services for Mississippi State University, in the Campus Landscape, Architecture and Electrical and Computer Engineering departments at MSU and as the men’s basketball coach at Millsaps College.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tan Tsai; and step-father, Larry Reese.
He is survived by his children, Jereme, Elizabeth, Tim, Andy, Julianna, Emily and Christy; brother, Ken Chapman; and 15 grandchildren.
