William “Bill” Castle

William Marion “Bill” Castle, age 89, died February 14, 2009, at his residence at Trinity Place Retirement Community. Funeral services were Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Ron McDougal officiating. The interment followed at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation was also Sunday, February 15, 2009, one hour prior to the service at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Castle was born April 6, 1919, in Kilmichael, MS, to the late Walter N. and Cora Weeks Castle. He was a graduate of Kilmichael High School and veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army Air Corp. Mr. Castle was a retired electrician and project and plant engineer for Weyerhaeuser. Survivors include his wife, Betty Kidd Castle of Columbus, daughters, Shirley Castle of Arlington, VA, Marilyn Castle of Ashville, NC and Marian (Bob) Castle of Rome, GA, Step Son, Larry Daves and his wife Michele of Columbus, grandchildren, Todd, Leslie, and Raliegh Harrell, Eliska Dyson and her husband Shawn of Columbus, Atwell Daves and his wife Angela of Starkville, MS and Lauren Palmer and her husband Ryan of Mobile, AL, and five great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Mark Looney, Atwell Daves, Shawn Dyson, Bill Kidd, Ed Kidd, and Chris Herring. Memorials may be made to the Palmer Home for Children P.O. Box 746 Columbus, MS 39703.ww.nma.o
