COLUMBUS — Wilbert Thomas Sr., 85, died Nov. 19, 2018, in Columbus. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Carter’s Funeral Services with the Rev. Ernest Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from noon-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Carter’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Thomas was born Aug. 31, 1933, in Columbus, to the late Abraham Thomas and Susie Thomas. He was formerly employed with Baldor Electric and was a member of 15th Street Church of God in Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mack Lanier Thomas; and siblings, Albert Thomas, Willie B. Thomas, Travis Thomas, Odell Thomas, Lenroy Thomas, Stella Guyton and Rosa Lawson. He is survived by his children, Sylvia Ross of Mobile, Alabama, Veronica Hairston of Northport, Alabama; Judy Williams of Atlanta, Georgia, Redia Wells and Wilbert Thomas Jr., both of Columbus; siblings, Catherine Thomas and Alonzo Thomas, both of Columbus; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Sim Curry, Lonnie Thomas, Omar H. Thomas, Wilbert Thomas Jr., David Brooks and Willie Brown.
