Vivian Thomas Moss, 89, of Columbus, MS, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019, at her residence. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 16, 2019, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Bro. Sammy Crawford officiating and Bro. Tommy Gillon assisting. Interment will be at 3:00 PM at Lena Cemetery, Lena, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Moss was born August 22, 1929, to the late James Murry and Velma Sessums Thomas, in Lena, MS and moved to Columbus, MS 54 years ago. She was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was a great cook and loved fishing, Mississippi State Baseball and traveling to the mountains. Mrs. Moss worked for Mississippi Power for a number of years prior to having children. She was a homemaker while her children were young and then taught at St. Mary’s Catholic School, Columbus, MS for a number of years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moss was preceded in death by her husband, Billy B. Moss, Sr; sisters, Dorothy Gunn and Jimmie Garver; and brother, Murry Howell Thomas. Mrs. Moss is survived by her sons, Bill (Ruthie) Moss, Columbus, MS and Doug (Carole) Moss, Caledonia, MS; grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Moss, Jana Moss, Jason Harrison, Audrey (Brad) Arinder, Anna (Koby) Bailey and Alex (Daniel) McCafferty; great-grandchildren, Savannah Moss, Maris James, Harper McCafferty, Sophia Moss and Hayes Bailey; and sister, Katherine (George) Pace, Rocky Mount, NC. Pallbearers will be Justin Moss, Jason Harrison, Daniel McCafferty, Brad Arinder and Koby Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be J.B. Cox, Ralph Blackstock, Ray Crosby, Bobby Ward, Dr. Brad Brown and Dr. Ramon Overstreet. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor choice.
