Viola Powell

MABEN — Viola “Neal” Powell, 72, died May 9, 2010, at her residence. Services are Saturday at 3 p.m. at Upper Prairie Creek MB Church in Mantee with Apostle Eugene Sucus officiating. Burial will follow at Jesus Christ Hill Temple A.O.H. Cemetery in Cedar Bluff. Visitation is today from 3-6 p.m. at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel. Ms. Powell was born March 11, 1938, to the late Cleveland Young and Gertrude Petty-Young. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Powell. Survivors include sons, L.C. Powell, L.G. Powell and James Powell, all of West Point, George Powell and Ricky Powell, both of Maben, and Kennedy Powell, of Oxford; daughters, Katie Walker, Mary Curtis Eacholes, Mable Eacholes, Betty Thompson and Gaylor Wofford, all of West Point, Rosie Robinson, Cynthia Powell, Kemberly Dear and LaTonya Powell, all of Maben, and Linda Conner, of Mantee; brother, Tommie Young, of Detroit; sisters, Artifical Walker, of Indianapolis, and Laura Randle, of Rock Island, Ill., 62 grandchildren and 77 great-grandchildren.
