COLUMBUS — Travis Sturdivant Jr., 73, died May 17, 2012, at Aurora Australis Lodge. Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Stephen Chapel MB Church with the Rev. Joe L. Peoples officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens. Visitation is today from noon to 5 p.m. at Century Hairston Funeral Home. Mr. Sturdivant was born Nov. 27, 1938, to the late Travis and Mayolla Billups Sturdivant. He attended R.E. Hunt School and was formerly employed by Brookshire Dairy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ellis, Tommie James and Alvertis Sturdivant; sisters, Christine Bennett, Willie Pearl Holt and Mary Cochran; and son, Dan H. Spann. Survivors include his wife, Ella Hairston Sturdivant; children, Andrew, Jeanette, Gloria and Rebecca, all of Columbus, Lee of Phoenix City, Ala., and Alphonso of Jackson; sister, Queen Rogers of Columbus; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
