COLUMBUS — Tommie Lyde Jr. died Dec. 23, 2017. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakland MB Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is from noon-6 p.m. today at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home. Mr. Lyde was born June 12, 1936, to the late Rosie Dell and Tommie Lyde Sr. He was a member of Wright’s Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Maggie Carter and Beatrice Roberson-Lyons. He is survived by his wife, Rosie Lee Lowery; children, Valorie McClellan, Terry Lyde, Sharon Morgan, Pamela Jones, Harold Lyde, Timothy Lyde, Vincent Lyde and Val Lyde; sisters, Mamie Dell Brown of Crawford, Susie Jackson of Flint, Michigan, Alice D. Benson of Chicago, Wyvonnie Forward of Panama, Florida, and Barbara Kinder of Chesapeake, Virginia; brothers, Sammie Lyde of Flint, Theodis Benson and Julian Benson, both of Chicago, and Bobby Stallings of Crawford; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
