Thurman Alvin Bryant, age 86 of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. Visitation will be held Friday, July 10, 2009 from 9 to 11 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 10, 2009 at 11 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Lammons, officiating and Bro. Bryant Benton, assisting. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with military honors. Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Bryant was born April 12, 1923 in Lowndes County, MS to the late Gertrude Brown and Stephen Emmit Bryant and was a resident of Columbus, MS for the past fortysix years, having moved from Plant City, FL. He retired in 1981 and was self-employed in the construction business. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, gardening and anything to do with woodworking. Mr. Bryant was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Mae Bryant, Mary Virginia Pearson; brothers, Brown Oliver Bryant and Raymond Emmit Bryant. Mr. Bryant is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Ernesteene Bryant, Columbus, MS; daughters, Patricia (Jimmy) Densmore, Columbus, MS; Cynthia (Doug) Livingston, Columbus, MS; sisters, Betty Hudson, Caledonia, MS; Priscilla McArthur, Dothan, AL; Linda Vann, Dothan, AL; grandchildren – Heather (Bart) Olsen, Melissa (Homer) Williams, Shannon (Thom) McCoy, Regina Livingston; great grandchildren – Christin Olsen, Katherine Olsen, Aaron Bryant Olsen, Jessica Weaver, Shelbi Weaver, Joey McCoy, Alex McCoy, Brandon McCoy, Hunter McCoy and great-grandchild, Charlsey Ford. Pallbearers will be John Gore, Jimmy Sprouse, Bart Olsen, David Sprouse, Darrell Gregory, Coolidge Perkins, Charles McArthur, Mayo Ruffin and Joey McCoy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Matthew Wade, Dr. Brad Brown, Dr. Max Taylor, Dr. James Stone, Dr. Francisco Sierra, Dr. Amit Gupta, Megan Bray, Lori Blansett, 3rd Floor Cardiology Staff at North Mississippi Medical Center.
