Thomas McCrary, age 91, of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Trinity Personal Care. Visitation will be Monday, July 2, 2012 from 10-11 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, Columbus, MS. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary with Dr. Danny Rowland and Rev. Diane Lemmon officiating. Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS, is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. McCrary was born July 23, 1920 in Columbus, MS to the late James Ambrose McCrary, Sr. and Alice Maudine Thomas McCrary. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son – Tommy “Tub” McCrary, three sisters, and one brother. Mr. McCrary was instrumental in developing Fairlane Shopping Center and other commercial businesses in the Columbus area. He served his country during World War II with the United States Marine Corps. Mr. McCrary served Lowndes County as a Justice Court judge for four years and a Mississippi State House of Representatives for 20 years. He was a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Columbus, MS. Mr. McCrary is survived by his wife of 70 years – Minnie Lester Lang McCrary; daughters – Ellen (Roger) Lovick, Ann Sims, Jamie Price (Tom Merchant), and daughter-in-law – Annette McCrary. He is also survived by four grandchildren – Brian (Darrie) Price, Jason (Lindsay) Price, Amber McCrary, and Anna McCrary; four great-grandchildren – McCanna Price, Tripp Price, Marin Price, and Power Price. All of Mr. McCrary’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren reside in Columbus, MS.
