Theodore Roosevelt â€œTedâ€ Cantrell, 86, died Feb. 9, 2009, at his residence. Services are Friday at 1 p.m. at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at Hatley Cemetery. Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. and will continue Friday until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Cantrell was born March 4, 1922, in Hackelburg, Ala., to the late Dan Henry and Myrta Yielding Cantrell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during World War II in the South Pacific and having been stationed in Germany, Japan, Saudi Arabia and many places in the U.S. He retired as a senior master sergeant and worked in Civil Service. He was Baptist. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Ray Cantrell; brothers, Daniel, Manuel, Herbert, W.H., Kenneth and Felix Cantrell; and sister, Lillian Scarbrough. He is survived by his wife, Mattie Sue McCrory Cantrell of Columbus; brother, Jimmy D. Cantrell of Hamilton, Ala.; and sisters, Sylvia Glenn of Hodges, Ala., Dorothy Morrison of Guin, Ala., Naomi Lee of Hackelburg and Nadine Lolley of Crenshaw, Ga. Pallbearers will be James C. Nash, and Mike, Mark, Christopher, Rex, Terry and Collin McCrory. Memorials may be made to Parkinsonâ€™s Research Foundation, P.O. Box 20256, Sarasota, FL 34276.
