ABERDEEN — Sybil J. Herndon, 81, died July 6, 2016, at her residence. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with the Revs. Mark R. Thornton and Dennis Smithey officiating. Burial will be at Wren Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen. Mrs. Herndon was born July 19, 1934, in Cobb County, Georgia, to the late Ernest Edward Pilgrim and Grace Irene Hadaway Pilgrim. She was a graduate of John McEachern School in Powder Springs, Georgia. She was formerly employed as a counselor assistant for Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation and worked as a legal secretary for Johnny Tackett. She was a member of Community of Grace Baptist Church. In addition her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Olvid Herndon; brothers, James E. Pilgrim, Raymond S. Pilgrim, Roy E. Pilgrim, Bobby D. Pilgrim and Thomas J. Pilgrim. She is survived by her sons, Teryl M. Herndon of Tupelo, Larry T. Herndon of Starkville, Dennis O. Herndon of Aberdeen, Ray W. Herndon of Greenville, Texas; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
