Sharon Anne Ambrose Patterson, age 67, of Aberdeen, MS, passed away peacefully with her children and family by her side on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Trinity Healthcare Center in Columbus, MS. Services will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Aberdeen First Baptist Church; burial will follow at Graham Memorial Cemetery in Reform, Alabama. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Sharon was born on Monday, May 28, 1951 in Tuscaloosa, AL to the late William Thomas and Ellie Dee Jackson Ambrose. She was a devout Christian and member of First Baptist Church in Aberdeen, MS. Sharon was the head majorette at Pickens County High graduating in 1969. She continued her education at the University of Alabama where she served as an ROTC sponsor and received her Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology in 1973. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Amory, MS, and began working in the lab for Physicians and Surgeons Clinic and Gilmore Memorial Hospital. There she remained for many years, continually adding to her credentials and furthering her education at the Institute of Ultrasound Diagnostics in Mobile, AL. Sharon began her career in ultrasound technology in the mid 1970’s when Gilmore Hospital, and P&S Clinic’s Dr. Richard Hollis, and Dr. Wendell Stockton introduced the science to the Amory Medical Community. She was retired after 25 years of service as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and a Registered Vascular Technologist at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Survivors include five daughters, Cori Long (Bradley), Amory, MS; Kylie Patterson, Starkville, MS; Vera Crawley (David IV), Starkville, MS; Jordon Pumphrey (Christopher), Pittsburgh, PA; Valerie Weivoda (Philip), Tupelo, MS; one son, Joshua Patterson, Catasauqua, PA; one sister, Gail Strickland (Dr. Joe), Huntsville, AL; three brothers, Barry Ambrose, Reform, AL; Billy Ambrose (Kim), Fairhope, AL; Rodney Ambrose, Huntsville, AL; nine grandchildren, Taylor Lee Wages, Joshua James Patterson, Charlee Nicole Patterson, Levin Emerson Pumphrey, Sydney Marie Long, Marley Scott Long, David “Declan” E. Crawley, V. Sharon Anniston Crawley, Tipper Meek Crawley; and her children’s father, Chester Patterson, Aberdeen, MS. Serving as pallbearers will be Barry Ambrose, Billy Ambrose, Rodney Ambrose, Dr. Joe Strickland, Dr. Scott Strickland, and Matthew Ambrose.
