ARTESIA – Sarah Lee Sherrod, 63, died Feb. 15, 2021, at her residence. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Artesia Pavilion Center, with Timothy F. Bourne officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah Grove Full Gospel Baptist Church. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. today, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Sherrod was born March 9, 1957, in Lowndes County, to the late Walter Sherrod Sr. and Ethel Lee Colister Sherrod. She was formerly employed with Hardee’s and was a member of Beulah Grove Full Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son. She is survived by her fiancé, Bobby Charles Peoples; children, Daphne Sherrod, LaQunda Sherrod and Moesha Brewer all of Artesia; siblings, Jesse Sherrod, Eddie Sherrod, Tony Sherrod all of Columbus, Melinda Selvie of Crawford, Walter Sherrod Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida, Luster Sherrod, Roosevelt Hairston, Ethel Jean Brewer, Sherlene Harris, Earnestine Brown and Lois Moody all of Artesia; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
