CARROLLTON, Ala. — Samuel Ralph Windle Sr., 92, died April 27, 2009, at his residence. Services are Thursday at 11 a.m. at Carrollton Baptist Church with Dr. P. Joe Whitt and the Revs. Parker Windle, Tommy Winders and Ralph Windle Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Carrollton City Cemetery. Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. at Skelton Funeral Home of Reform, Ala., and the body will be at the church Thursday one hour prior to services. Mr. Windle was born April 1, 1917, in Kirk, Ala., to the late Minnie and Cole Windle. He was a self-employed businessman who had operated a lumber business, hardware store, clothing stores and a grocery store. In the mid 1950’s, he served for four years as a representative in the state legislature in Montgomery, Ala. He was a member of Carrollton Baptist Church since 1945, and he was elected deacon emeritus at the church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Pearl Parker Windle; and sisters, Laura Poole and Genia Billings. He is survived by his daughter, Emily W. Kirk of Carrollton; sons, Ralph Windle Jr. of Columbus and Dennis Windle of Northport, Ala.; sisters, Dot Walters and Jeweleen Burkhalter; brothers, Olen and Bobby Windle; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Parker Windle, John and Jake McIntosh, Keith Reeves, Jason Pate and Sam White. Memorials may be made to: Carrollton Baptist Church Building Fund or Missions Fund, P.O.
