Samuel L. Knighton
Sam Knighton, 43, of Columbus died Monday, February 2, 2009 at North Mississippi Medical Center – Tupelo. He was born January 20, 1966 to B.C. and Janett Ray Knighton. He is survived by his fiancee` – Anita Channell of Columbus; his daughters – Samantha Knighton of West Helena, AR; and Sheyanne Knighton of Philadelphia; his son – Robert Knighton of Philadelphia; sisters – Robin M. (Paul) Evans of Canton; Reverend Lou Knighton-Bales (John) of Hattiesburg; Debbie Evans of Jackson; and Bobbie Ruth (Jim) Green of Petal; brother – Morris (Teresa) Knighton of Cedar Bluff. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; sister – Ronda Hubbard; and brother – Andrew Knighton. Sam was an avid hunter and loved Nascar Racing, but above all he loved the Alabama Crimson Tide football team. After graduating from New Hope High School, he attended EMCC and MUW. He was a veteran of the United States Army and Army National Guard and received several accommodations for his special skills as an ammunition expert. A memorial service will be held at Murrah’s Chapel Church in Columbus, MS, Saturday February 7 at 1:00 pm with Reverend Lou Knighton-Bales officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association On behalf of Sam, the family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the 2nd floor CCU unit at NEMMC, Ms. Judy Bates, Uncle Mike Cole, Richard Hubbard, Gary Blanton, Tyson Glover, Sean Cole, Mike Carter, Donny Winder and H.C.
