EUPORA — Sammie Spencer Jr., 76, died May 10, 2019, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Sixteen Section M.B. Church with the Rev. Rufus Harris Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Cemetery in Mathiston. Visitation will be from 12:30-6 p.m. Friday at Century Hairston Funeral Home in Starkville. Century Hairston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Spencer was born Feb. 17, 1943, in Starkville, to the late Sammie Spencer Sr. and Ossie Dell Parks. He was formerly employed as a steel worker on the Ship Yard. He is survived by his wife, Lou Doris Spencer of Eupora; son, Edward Deloach of Starkville; daughters, Jeanie Rogers of Starkville and Lillian Rice of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; brothers, Isiah Spencer and James Spencer, both of Detroit, Michigan and Larry Mobley of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Mamie Johnson of Detroit; 14 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
