MASHULAVILLE — Sam Simmons, 90, died March 22, 2009, at Noxubee County Nursing Home in Macon. Services are Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon with Bro. Glen Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Mashulaville Cemetery in Macon. Visitation is Tuesday for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Mr. Simmons was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Mashulaville to the late Samuel Franklin and Mary Frances Jones Simmons. He was a lifetime resident of Noxubee County. He attended Mashulaville schools and worked as a tractor mechanic for John Deere for over 30 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Simmons; and brother, Thomas J. Simmons. He is survived by his wife, Louise Simmons of Macon; son, Bobby Simmons of Macon; sister, Lois Richardson of Macon; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Mashulaville Cemetery Fund or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
