COLUMBUS — Rufus Lee Neal Sr., 69, died Sept. 24, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hopewell MB Church with the Rev. George Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery in Ethelsville. Visitation is from noon-5:30 p.m. today at Century Hairston Funeral Home. Mr. Neal was born Jan. 16, 1948, to James Neal and Evelyn C. Neal. He was previously employed with Baldor Electric. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Neal; daughters, Tressie Staples, Regina Staples and Ravin Neal, all of Columbus; sons, Rufus Lee Neal Jr. and Monterell Neal Sr., both of Columbus; sisters, Ethel Hairston, Hattie Shirley and Marilyn Agnew; brothers, James T. Neal and Anthony Neal; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
