WEST POINT — Rufus L. Hughes Sr., 75, died Nov. 17, 2021, at West Point Community Living Center.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Greenwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Homer Cannon officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30-11 a.m. prior to services at the cemetery. Carter’s Mortuary Services of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hughes was born June 30, 1946, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Robert Hill and Willie Mae Austin. He was formerly employed as a factory worker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, May Eliza and Peggy Jo; daughter, Fatina Tallie; sister, Marie Fields; brother, David Tallie, Charles Hill and Charles Williams.
He is survived by his daughters, Elaine Harper of West Point, Cassandra Brown of Hillsboro, Oregon and Brenda Poseley of Mantee; sons, Rufus Hughes Jr., James Walker and Andre Woods, all of West Point; sisters, Mary Cannon, Maudine Petty and Elaine Williams, all of West Point; 23 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
