COLUMBUS — Rufus Carlvin, 90, died June 29, 2012, at his residence. Services are Tuesday at 11 a.m. at New Zion Pilgrim MB Church with Christopher Wriley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Carter’s of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Carlvin was born Dec. 8, 1921, to the late Coleman and Ollie Mae Colvin. He was a member of New Zion Pilgrim MB Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed with Commerce Cleaners for over 50 years and was a licensed funeral director for Carter’s Funeral Services for 25 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Carlvin; sisters, Claudia Mae Easley and Ethel Mae Jones; and brothers, Clarence Colvin and James Colvin. Survivors include her son, Otis Gardner of Columbus; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
