VERNON, Ala. — Ruby Gray Matthews, 100, died April 26, 2009, at Care Center of Vernon. Services are Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home in Vernon with Glen Boman and Sonny McLellan officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Vernon. Visitation is Tuesday for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Mrs. Matthews was born Jan. 22, 1909, in Lamar County, Ala. She was a housewife. She is survived by her son, John Matthews of Vernon; daughter, Mary Elna Rector of Jasper, Ala.; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
