Rosie B. Macon, 64, died March 17, 2010, at Oktibbeha County Hospital. Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at Mount Peiler Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Charlie R. Barnes Sr.officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery in Byhalia. Visitation is today from 2-6 p.m. at West Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Macon was born in Desoto County and was a Baptist. She graduated from East Side High School in Shannon. She attended Mississippi Industrial College in Holly Springs and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She graduated from Mississippi State University with a Master’s Degree in French and a Specialist Degree in English Education. She was a devoted member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated. She retired from Alexander High School after many years of teaching English and French. She was a member of Mount Peiler M.B. Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest, Lucius and Johnny L. Brown. She is survived by her children, Raquel Macon Green of Tampa, Fla., Rodriquas Onasiaus Macon of Starkville, and Ryakko Macon Price of Laurel; sister, Josephine Tunstall of Byhalia; and six grandchildren.
