Rose (Gonzalez) Bachman, 90, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2022, at Windsor Place Nursing Home in Columbus, Mississippi.
Rose was born in Jerome, Arizona, on December 15, 1931, to Manuel and Agueda (Andres) Gonzalez, who both immigrated from Spain in the early 1900s.
Rose moved to Los Angeles, California, as a teenager and was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School in 1951. She later lived in Arcadia, California, where she raised her two daughters, Glenda and Bonnie. Rose also worked as an elementary school tutor for several years before moving to Columbus, Mississippi, after the birth of her granddaughter, Kelly Rose Ervin, in 1986.
Rose enjoyed daily walks around her neighborhood, gardening and bird watching. She loved music and singing, watching movies and reading. She also enjoyed shopping for antiques and was always the best dressed lady in the room.
Rose, known by her family affectionately as “Odie,” will always be remembered for her quirky, lovable sense of humor and how much she cared for her friends and family. She will be missed by many.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Manuel Andres Jr., Peter Andres, Larry Andres and her sister Mary Andres Cohen.
She is survived by her two daughters, Glenda Bachman Shaw (Mike) of Palm Springs, CA, and Bonnie Bachman Ervin (James) of Columbus, MS; her granddaughter, Kelly Ervin of Columbus, MS; her brother Anthony Andres of Orange, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
Rose’s family would like to thank the staff at Windsor Place Nursing Home and especially her personal caregiver, Roxanne McDavis.
A private memorial will be held by her family.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her honor to The Columbus-Lowndes Humane Society, 50 Airline Road, Columbus, MS 39702.
