WEST POINT – Robert “Bob” Gene Childress, 71, died Feb. 17, 2021, at NMMC-Tupelo. Graveside services will be at noon Monday, at McPherson Cemetery, with the Rev. Maxine Kimbrel officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, at Robinson Funeral Home. Robinson Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Childress was born May 24, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Carol Cliffton and Elizabeth Elain Hughes Childress. He was a graduate of Perdue University and a veteran of the United States Navy. he was formerly employed driving a mobile sonogram bus with Indiana State University and in remodeling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Childress; and brother, Kenneth Ray Childress. He is survived by his children, Timothy Wayne Kimbrel of West Point and Terry Lynn Kimbrel of Columbus; siblings, David Childress, Eddie Childress, Terry Childress off of Indiana and Mari Childress of South Carolina; four grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
