ARLINGTON, Tenn. — Rex Gail Bruington, 74, died April 30, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, Tennessee. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia, Kansas with David Webb officiating. Mr. Bruington was born April 21, 1942, to the late Oscar Bruington and Hazel Jacobson Bruington in Newton, Kansas. He was previously employed as a professor with Mississippi University for Women and was a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Bruington; and sister, Donna Wahl. He is survived by his wife, Doris Waugh Bruington of Arlington; sons, Brent Bruington of McGehee, Arkansas, and Stephen Mortiz of Memphis, Tennessee; daughter, Kerry Bruington of Collierville; brother, Terry Bruington of Olathe, Kansas; sister, Wanda Davis of Emporia, Kansas; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
