Rev. Jerry Reynolds Potter, age 76, of Columbus, MS, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS with Rev. Timothy Daniel Lee officiating. Interment will be in Beersheba Cemetery with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Rev. Jerry Potter was born on August 24, 1941, in Lansing, MI to the late John R. Potter and Clara Belle Weed Potter. He authored several books over his lifetime, “Upon This Rock”, “The Invitation”, books to come, “Redneck Parables”, “The Ugly Princess”, “How to Survive the Ministry”, and “The Acceptance”. Mr. Potter held 29 different revivals in Sweden and was the President of Evangel Ministers Fellowship. He also has a website, Comb the Nations that contains his messages. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Grimm; and his great-granddaughter, Peyton Rae Perkins. Rev. Potter is survived by his wife, Anna Louise Turpin Potter of Columbus, MS; sons, Jerry Potter, Jr. and wife Sandi of Ertzberger, Tim (Shelley) Potter of Valdosta, GA, and John (Megan) Potter of Columbus, MS; daughters, Pamela (Mike) Stratton of Columbus, MS and Denise (Tim) Lee of Columbus, MS; sister, Sandra Dehottman of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren, Josh Potter, Brooke Perkins, Jessie Fredrick, Leah Revels, Ross Potter, Merrin Wright, David Glorioso, Caden Scaff, Courtney Lee and Caleb Lee; great-grandchildren, Mariah Perkins, Aubree Perkins, Dallas Perkins, Aria Fredrick, Eisley Fredrick and Van Wyatt Revels. Pallbearers will be Mike Cobb, Mike Stratton, David Tedford, Jason Perkins, Thomas Johnston and Harold Bushey. Honorary pallbearers will be John Sloan, Thomas Wharton and Jack Taylor.
