CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Ralph Wheeler Minga, 89, died April 22, 2009, in Chattanooga. Graveside services were yesterday at 2 p.m. at the Lann Cemetery with Bro. Wes White officiating. Visitation was yesterday at 10 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home. Mr. Minga was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Greenwood Springs to the late James Ellis and Margarette Corra Odom Minga. He was a 1949 graduate of the University of Alabama and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving in a submarine repair unit in Pearl Harbor. He was a Professional Engineer in Metallurgical Engineering and retired from Combustion Engineering. He was a life long member of the American Welding Society. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Theresa Smith, Doris O’Neal, Hansel, Rubel and Eugene Minga. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Minga of Chattanooga; son, David Minga of London, Ky.; daughters, Gail Minga of Atlanta, Ga., and Dorrie Minga LoBue of Evansville, Ind.; brother, Kermit Minga of Greenwood Springs; sisters, Jimmie Lois James of Houston, Ruth Whitehead of Smithville, and Ophelia Thomas of Collierville, Tenn.; and six grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Memorial may be made to the Chattanooga Section of the American Welding Society, %Don Russell, P.O. Box 168, Chattanooga, TN 37401 for the Ralph W.
