Rachel Bell

Rachel Llene Aldridge Bell, 91, of Columbus, MS passed away, peacefully with her family by her bedside Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Windsor Place.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 10:30 AM at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home and Crematory, College Street location, with Brother Donald Parker officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Steens, MS.
Mrs. Bell was born May 9, 1930, in Millport, AL to the late Wyman and Maudie Aldridge. She married Earl D. Bell, March 1949, lived on the family farm in Caledonia, MS and together they raised three children, and later moved to Columbus, MS. Mrs. Bell was a homemaker until her children were of school age when she was employed with Glenn Manufacturing for many years at the Caledonia location where she worked as a line supervisor. Later she was employed with Columbus Butane Company where she was an account manager until she retired. She was a member of Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Earl D. Bell; brothers, Charles Aldridge, Edward Aldridge, Rayford Aldridge; and sister, Nona Raye Burleson; her parents, Wyman and Maudie Aldridge; and step-grandson, Jeffery S. Gore.
Mrs. Bell is survived by her daughters, Martha (Larry) Chappell of Steens, MS, Glenda Vaughan, of Northport, AL; and son, Roger (Shelve) Bell of Bella Collina, FL; brother, Denzil Aldridge, Fernbank, AL; grandchildren, Susan (Michael) Akin of Madison, MS, Byron (Kristi) Culpepper, of Pelham, AL, Caron (Michael) Byrd, of Caledonia, MS, Brandon (Leah) Vaughan, of Logan, UT, Brooke (Russell) Hill, of Northport, AL; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mike Aldridge, Charles Aldridge, Jr., Dennis Aldridge, Bryon Culpepper, Brandon Vaughan, Michael Akin, Matthew Byrd, Owen Byrd and Alex Akin.
Honorary Pallbearers are Walt and Brenda Willis, Don Calloway, the Edmondson family, and former employees of Columbus Butane.
