R. L. Jennings, 77, died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at his home, in West Point. Rube Leon Jennings, Jr. was born May 6, 1932 in Cedar Bluff, to the late Amanda Rebekah Myers Jennings and Rube Leon Jennings, Sr. Mr. Jenning was a Retired U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sargeant for 20 years and 9 months, he had worked as an electrician following his retirement. He was Baptist and a Veteran of the U. S. Air Force serving during Korean War and the Vietnam War periods. Sisters and brothers, Ora Cardwell, Lucille Dowdle, Elmer Jennings, John Jennings, W. C. Jennings, and Clara Belle Hill also preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the U. S. Air Force Chaplain Charles” Rick” Montoya officiating, along with full military graveside burial honors. Burial will follow in Cedar Bluff Methodist Cemetery Cedar Bluff. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Jennings Wilson of Columbus, Lisa Jennings Keeton (Bill) of Maryville, TN, and Annette Jennings Atkinson of West Point; three sons, John Paul Jennings (Maie) of Ft. Walton, FL, Charles Norman Jennings (Monica) of Vero Beach, FL, and Rube L. “Lee” Jennings, III of Ridge Crest, CA; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by greatgrandson, Mackenzie Chase Wilson and great granddaughter Skailyr Jennings Scott who he loved to play ball with. Pallbearers will be Joey Myers, Ryan Boykin, Heath Jennings, Curt Kisner, Blake Miller, and Robert Miller. Honorary Pallbearers will be J. B. Kisner, Wayne “Pee Wee” Wray, Grady Ivy, Donnie Walker, Kenny Ingram, Dr. Robert Boland, Scotty Allen, Butch Boykin, Dr. Robbin Faulkner, Roger Blake, and his military retiree friends, Earl Vaughn, Ted Burton, Doc Adams and Jim Obenchain. Memorials may be made to Cedar Bluff Methodist Cemetery Care Fund, c/o Miss Mary Rose Lyon, 419 McCord Street West Point, MS 39773. Visitation will be Saturday, 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
