Patricia Ann Knight, 79, born in Fayette, AL on February 13, 1943, passed away peacefully with family by her side the evening of August 4, 2022, after a brief illness. She lived most of her working years in Mississippi raising her family there before moving to the inter coastal area of South Alabama where she called home in her later years.
Incredibly strong in her faith and strong willed, Patricia worked well beyond her retirement years as a small business owner and entrepreneur. That same strength helped her fight hard and endure physical issues up until the time she left her earthly home.
She will be remembered by many for her strength, love and generosity. Her love and kindness extended to small animals many of which she took in and cared for as strays.
Patricia was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wilbur Coleman Strickland and Lottie Estelle Foster Strickland, Macon, MS; her parents, Laura Francis Cade and James Marvin Thornton, Scooba MS; and her stepfather, William Cade of Brooskville, MS.
Her children, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life and she loved them all dearly.
She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Deborah Knight, Brentwood, TN, Ivy and Josette Knight, Elberta, AL, and Jamie and Shelly Knight, Benton City, WA. Patricia also leaves behind four granddaughters, Ashton Wright married to Adam Wright, Dallas,TX, Caitlin Knight-Anderson married to Sean Anderson, Portland, OR, Taylor Knight, Brentwood, TN, and Josephine Knight, Elberta, AL. Her great grandchildren are Kaden Anderson and Harper Anderson, Portland, OR.
Part of her important life story included extended family through her mother’s second marriage to William Cade. Those family members include William Francis and Sherwin Cade, Tupelo, MS, Eddie and Sandy Cade, Oxford, MS, Bobby and Laura Cade, Columbus, MS, Mary And Bryan Tait, Collierville, TN, John Cade Brooksville, MS, James Cade (deceased).
A small family service was held on August 20, 2022, near Patricia’s home.
The family is requesting donations in Patricia’s name to be sent to the Baldwin County Animal Shelter in Summerdale, Alabama in lieu of flowers.
