Elaine Parrish

Elaine Parrish, age 66, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021, at her home in Columbus surrounded by family. Elaine was born August 3, 1954, in Richmond, California to Virginia Douglas Parrish and David C. Parrish. She was preceded in death by her father, David Parrish, and is survived by her mother, Virginia Parrish, and brother Philip Parrish of Columbus, MS. Elaine moved to Columbus, MS, in 1965. She attended New Hope High School where she was Head Majorette. She studied ballet for six years under Betty Lott, her favorite dance teacher. Elaine attended the University of North Alabama and enjoyed hearing “Leo”, UNA’s lion mascot, roar at dusk on the way from her classes. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from MUW as well as worked for the “W” for three years and was involved in the alumni association. She attended Mississippi State University and earned her Master’s degree and her Ph.D. She worked as a professor at St. Leo University. Her students affectionately referred to her as “Dr. Elaine.” Elaine was an avid history buff and loved animals, especially cats. She adopted more than a dozen from the Columbus Lowndes Humane Society. She was well known as an excellent and creative cook who created many unique recipes. She was both sharp witted and generous never forgetting a birthday or anniversary. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
