STARKVILLE – Carl Maurice Holloway died Feb. 25, 2021, at his residence. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Gardens Park in Starkville. Welch Funeral Home in Starkville is entrusted with arrangements. Mr. Holloway was born in 1947 in Raleigh, North Carolina, to the late Carl M. Holloway and Julia M. Holloway. He attended Meridian Junior College and University of Southern Mississippi, where he received his bachelor’s of science degree in finance. He was employed with First National Bank of Meridian, as national bank examiner for the Office of the Comptroller of Currency in Montgomery, Alabama, the Peoples Savings Bank as assistant vice president of Starkville operations and retired as executive vice president in charge of system operations. He formed Holloway & Associates Inc. and served on the board of directors for the National Bank of Commerce Capital Corporation (later Cadence Bank). He was active in the United Way of Starkville and served as director of the Starkville Chamber of Commerce. He served on The American Bankers Association Education Committee and was chairman of the Mississippi Bankers Association Operations Committee. Carl was a member of Faith Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Diane Holloway. He is survived by his wife, Diane; sons, David and Nathan; daughters, Kristen and Amanda; and two grandsons.
