OBITUARY

Mattie Woods

SULLIGENT, Ala. — Mattie R. Woods, 91, died Feb.19, 2021, at her residence. Private funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Murry R. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at New Church Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Chandler Funeral Home of Vernon is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Woods was born June 17, 1929, in Sumiton, Alabama, to the late James R. and Mary C. Russell. She attended school in Dora, Alabama and was a member of New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Woods; four brothers; three sisters; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Patrick H. Woods, Rector Johnson Jr., Bob Jow Johnson, Jerry Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Terry Johnson, Esker Jay Johnson, Troy L. Johnson, Dorothy L. Smith, Lula Karon Thomas Smith and Rammie M. Johnson; sister, Charlotte Wilson; and grandchildren.
