Billy Pennington

VERNON, Ala. — Billy Lee Pennington, 73, died Jan. 9, 2021, at his residence. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Ron Raiffe officiating. Burial will follow at Wofford Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Chandler Funeral Home of Vernon is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Pennington was born May, 1, 1947, in Lamar County, Alabama, to the late Celbert Lee and Jewell Carr Pennington. He was formerly employed as a supervisor with Sanford Trust Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Billy Lee Pennington, Jr.; and siblings, Kindal Pennington, Wallace Pennington and Polly Hudson. He is survived by his wife, Ella Pennington; children, Cindy Meyers, Brooke Baughn, Stacie Peacock, Tina Brewer, John “Jay” Rowe and Jeff Pennington; siblings, David Pennington, Flora Hawkins, Sue Kennedy, Molly Chandler, Jean Thompson, Dean Turner and Loretta Pennington; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
