Louis Gregory Mutch, age 59, died Monday, July 27, 2020, at his residence in Columbus. A visitation will be held Saturday, August 1, 2020, from 2 PM until 4 PM at the 716 2nd Ave North location of Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home. Mutch was born on June 7, 1961, in Spokane, Washington, to the late Samuel Amos and Mary Lou Brunk Mutch. He was stationed at Columbus Air Force Base in the 80s, and loved the area so much he decided to stay and make Columbus his home. After his service in the Air Force, he was employed many years at Columbus Air Force Base as an Instrument Technician and Team Leader. An avid cyclist since 1989, he was seen often in and around Columbus, on his bicycle. He also loved photography, and worked toward his Bachelors in Fine Arts degree at Mississippi University for Women Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Allen Mutch, Columbus, MS; daughter, Sarah Escobar, Birmingham AL; sons, Greg Mutch, Bruce MS and Ben Mutch, Columbus MS; sister, Marita Verhei, Pasco WA; and grandchildren, Evelyn and Ezekiel Escobar, Birmingham AL. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to Frank P. Phillips Memorial YMCA, 602 2nd Ave N. Columbus, MS 39701.
