AMORY — Theron Russell Hughes, 83, died May 20, 2020, at his residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home, with Chuck Moffett officiating. Burial will follow in Lann Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today, at the funeral home. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hughes was born Feb. 1, 1937, in Monroe County, to the late John Chesley and Leota Wiginton Hughes. He was formerly employed with Babcock and Wilcox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, James Hughes, Charles Alford Hughes, Leonard Hughes and Frances Ruth Hughes. He is survived by his children, Allen Reynold Hughes of Amory and Beck Hughes of Splunge; sister, Betty Evans; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Clark, Nelson Breedlove, Henry Kyle, Vernon Goode, Richard Huffman and Barry Faulkner.
