CALEDONIA ó Mildred Bankhead, 93, died Feb. 5, 2020, in Columbus. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at Shiloh Full Gospel M.B. of Columbus, with Kevin Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Sturdivant Cemetery of Caledonia. Visitation is from 12-6 p.m. today, at Carterís Funeral Service of Columbus. Carterís Funeral Service of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Bankhead was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Caledonia, to the late James E. and Lucy G. Hollis. She was a member of Shiloh Full Gospel M.B. Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Celestine Bankhead, Carl Bankhead and Cassandra Martin; siblings, Janie Harris, Nettie Henry, Booker T. and Excell Hollis; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is survived by her children, Leon Bankhead and Johnnie Bankhead both of Caledonia, Clifford Bankhead of Brooksville, Delois Robinson and Mary B. Richards both of Columbus, siblings, James Hollis of Mobile, Aalabama and Lillian Palmore of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-granchildren. Pallbearers will be Jessie Williams, Brandon Williams, Eddie Covington, Deacon George Turner, Danny Henry and Deacon Roger Allen.
