Ashton Bryant Hammett, 12, of Columbus, MS, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at his residence. Services will be announced at a later date. Ashton was born July 12, 2007, in New Orle- ans, LA, to Marissa Menendez and Daniel Ham- mett. He attended New Journey Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He was a big gamer and loved playing Xbox. He was an artist, sculpting clay and drawing, and enjoyed music. Ashton never complained, was selfless and had a huge heart. He was a very funny comedian and prankster and he loved his dog- Gabby. Ashton is survived by his parents, Marissa Me- nendez Hammett and Daniel Hammett both of Columbus, MS; sister, Tristan Renee Hammett; maternal grandparents, Enith Menendez and Michael Menendez; paternal grandparents, Cleo Hammett and Donald Hammett; aunts, Jackie Hammett, Andrea Alexander, Linda Hammett, Brenda Hammett and Glenda (Marion) Stevens; uncles, Morris (Rae-Lyn) Hammett, Donald Hammett, Jr. and Darrin Cotton; cousins, Shelby Hammett, Jacie-Rae Hammett, Davin Savoy, Jade Hammett, Brittany Alexander, Abby Alexander, Zachary Alexander and Andrew Whittikki.
