DETROIT, Ala. — Annie Mae Ray Tooke, 93, died Sept. 6, 2019, at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Guin, Alabama. Services are at 4 p.m. today at Otts Funeral Home Chapel, with Jason Clifton officiating. Burial will follow at Carter Cemetery. Visitation is two hours prior to the services at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Tooke was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Detroit, to the late Bankhead Hollis Ray and Alva Brown Ray. She was formerly employed with the Detroit School Cafeteria and in the garment industry with Tollgate Manufacturing in Hamilton and Detroit Slacks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lyndon Cicero Tooke; sister, Allene Ray Goodman; and brothers, Samuel Hollis Ray and Auburn Hoyette Ray. She is survived by her daughter, Ora Mae Tooke Woods of Sulligent; son, Tony Lynn Tooke of Bristow, Virginia; sister, Reba Ray Cooper of Hoover; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers are Corey Tooke, Armando Duran, Jerry Don Taylor, J.D. Taylor, Wesley Woods and Tyler Woods. Memorials may be made to the Detroit Carter Cemetery Fund, c/o Sharron Williams, P.O. Box 37, Detroit, AL 35552.
