ABERDEEN — Grover William Jackson, 89, died Aug. 15, 2019. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Durrett Memorial Cemetery at Quincy. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Jackson was born July 8, 1930, in Monroe County, to the late Grover Cleveland Jackson and Mellie Josephine Jackson. He was a 1950 graduate of Becker High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving as Staff Sargent during the Korean Conflict. He was formerly employed with Hayes Aircraft Corporation in Birmingham, Alabama, Lann Hardware, Jackson’s Texaco Station and Northeast Mississippi Butane Gas and was owner and operator of Jackson’s Heating and Cooling. He served as a member of the Aberdeen Board of Alderman and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son; sisters, Bell Perry, Zula Mae Tucker Coker and Beatrice Plunkett; and brother, Nathaniel Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Deloris; daughters, Barbara Maddox and Linda Blackwell; sisters, Beulah Tucker and Josephine Hudson; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
