STEENS — Johnnie Will Cunningham Sr., 84, died Aug. 12, 2019, at the Jackson University Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Charity M.B. Church, with the Rev. Charles Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at New Zion M.B. Church Cemetery in Steens. Visitation is from 3-7 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carters’ Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Cunningham was born June 23, 1935, in Lowndes County, to the late Sheffield Cunningham and Mamie Easley. He was formerly employed as a machine operator with Airline Manufacturing and a member of Charity Full Gospel Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josie Cunningham; and siblings, Clayton Cunningham, Willie B. Cunningham, Curly Cunningham, Billy R. Cunningham, Annie G. Cunningham, Lola G. Cunningham and Zettie W. Cunningham. He is survived by his children, Brenda Washington, James Cunningham, Carolyn Davis, Johnny Cunningham, Janice Ryland, Angela Jones, Tina Lewis and Valerie Chandler, all of Columbus, Curtis Cunningham of Frisco, Texas, Steve Cunningham of Ridgeland, Vurtis Cunningham of Frederick, Maryland, Mary Joe Greeenlee of Steens, Anthoney Richardson of Detroit, Michigan, and O.W. Richardson of Altus, Oklahoma; siblings, Christine Higgins of Starkville, Valerie Ennis of San Angelo, Texas, and Eddie J. Cunningham of Columbus; 36 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Bernard Cunningham, Danny Cunningham, Kelvin Cunningham, Billy Cunningham Jr., Derrick Higgins and Reginald McGrew Jr.
