Greta Leach Monfee, 82, of North Platte, NE, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019. Greta was born on April 13, 1937, in Carrollton, Mississippi. She attended school in Black Hawk, MS, before moving to Columbus, MS, where she graduated from Lee High School in 1955, and later attended Mississippi University for Women, graduating in 1995. After graduation, Greta was employed by the Commercial Dispatch and retired after 28 years from Omnova Solutions in Columbus, MS. After retirement, Greta relocated to North Platte, NE, where she remained until her death. She loved her family, traveling and reading murder mysteries by English authors. She also volunteered for the Red Cross after Hurricane Katrina. She was preceded in death by parents, Ann Leach Davis and Emmett Leach; and brother, Emmett (Mack) Leach. She is survived by her brother, Buddy Leach (Gale) of Aberdeen, MS; and her children: daughter, Kathy Beasley McGrath (Robert) and their children, Megan McGrath Teeple (Scott) and their children, Kyleigh, McKenna and Kinsley; daughter, Erin McGrath Derganc (Matt) and their daughter, Hailey; son, Jesse Beasley (Briana) and their son, Ty; son, Stephen Monfee (Sherri) and their children, Nicole and Blake Monfee; son, Anthony Monfee (Christine) and their children, Anthony, Lee and Gracie. Greta was also blessed with granddaughters: Whittney Monfee Youngblood (Jonathan), Kelly Monfee Johnston; and ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Adams and Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte is handling arrangements. The family had a private celebration of life on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at 1:00 PM at Occasions, located at 125 E North Lake Road North Platte, NE, for immediate family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Greta’s name to the Red Cross of America.
