SULLIGENT, Ala. — Gaythel King Prothro, 92, died Aug. 8 ,2019, at her residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Otts Funeral Home Chapel, with Jason Clifton officiating. Burial will follow at Kingsville Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Prothro was born Feb. 21, 1927, in Lamar County, to the late Marvin King and Annie Holloway. She attended Detroit and Byrd schools and was formerly employed in the sewing industry with McCoy Manufacturing and Reltoc. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Prothro; sons, Harold “Slick” Prothro and James Prothro; brothers, R.J. King, Leman King, Raymond King and Webster “Red” King; and sisters, Gerline Real and Christine Sledge. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Morton of Sulligent; sister, Mavoline Dalton of Detroit; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
