MACON — William “Boo” Oliver, 64, died July 7, 2019, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Hope U.M. Church in Macon, with the Rev. Kori Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael U.M. Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 1-6 p.m. today at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home Chapel and one hour prior to services at the church. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Oliver was born Oct. 22, 1954, in Noxubee County, to the late Hoover Sr. and Bessie Earl Long Oliver. He was a graduate of Noxubee Senior High School and was formerly employed as Noxubee County District Two Supervisor. He served on the Golden Triangle Planning and Development Board, Noxubee County Sportsplex Board, Noxubee Alliance Board, the Tobacco Free Coalition of Noxubee, Kemper and Neshoba Counties, and as President of the Board of Supervisors, He was a member of St. Michael U.M. Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elmyra Washington. He is survived by his wife, Merlinda Mason Oliver of Macon; sons, Daniel Beale, Shawn Mays of Snellville, Georgia, and Derrick Mays of Starkville; sisters, Rita Oliver of Lewisville, Texas and Bonita Oliver of Biloxi; brother, Hoover Oliver Jr. of Countryside, Illinois; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Derrick Mays, Shawn Mays, Williams Oliver Jr., Earnest Oliver, Mastraw Oliver and Rex Oliver.
