Alice Cungious

ABERDEEN — Alice L. Cungious, 82, died June 6, 2019, at her residence. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Springs M.B. Church in Okolona, with Dr. Noland Elzie Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is from noon-6 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Cungious was born Sept. 16, 1936, in Prairie, to the late Richard Rowe Sr. and Rosemary Rowe. She was formerly employed as a cook with ABC Preschool and a member of Zion Springs M.B. Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Cungious; and siblings, Richard Rowe Jr., Emery C. Rowe, Rosie Dancy and Essie Roberts. She is survived by her children, Maurice Barr, Dwane Barr, Virgie Buckingham, Loretta Braylock and Letha Ivory, all of Aberdeen, Jimmie Barr and Larry Barr, both of Okolona, and Della McIntosh of Dallas, Texas; siblings, Raymond Rowe and Lora Dobbins, both of Chicago, Illinois, Sara Moore of Napierville, Tennessee, Ever G. Houston of McDonough, Georgia, and Addie Deans of Memphis, Tennessee; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Michael Barr, Jerome Buckingham Jr., Nathan Braylock, Larry Barr Jr., Jimmie L. Barr, Jacquest Buckingham, Zachary Barr and Maurice Barr Jr.
