COLUMBUS — Maxine Smith, 57, died May 10, 2019, at her residence. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Allan Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-6 p.m. Saturday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Smith was born Sept. 14, 1961, in Columbus, to the late Theodis Martin and Ollie Mae Smith. She attended Columbus Public Schools and was formerly employed as a cook with Harvey’s and with Lowe’s. She was a member of Trinity Mt. Carmel C.M.E. Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Leroy Smith, Barry Smith and Cleotis Lang. She is survived by her children, Monzell Smith, Marreo Smith and Monique Smith, all of Columbus; siblings, Lourine Smith, Cleveland Smith, Allan Smith, Kelvin Smith, Jenny Washington, Jessie Taylor, Bernice Turner and William Taylor, all of Columbus, Angela Dora and Lasheila Harris, both of Ridgeland, Gail Martin, Cynthia Martin and Vincent Martin, all of Kankakee, Illinois, Leslie Brown and Patricia Hill, both of Artesia, Larry Newman of Chicago, Illinois and Christine Tate of Brooksville; and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tobias Smith, Fredrick Tate, Fredeas Tate, Markius Holmes, Jeron Pearson and Brian Jordan.
