VERNON, Ala. — Jim D. Burnett, 84, died April 13, 2019, at his residence. Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Vernon with Clyde Stephens and Randy Tolleson officiating. Burial will follow at Lamar Memory Gardens. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Chandler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Burnett was born Feb. 11, 1935, in Lamar County, Alabama, to the late Frank and Bertha Burnett. He was a graduate of Sulligent High School and attended Brewer State Jr. College and Memphis State University School of Banking. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served on the Department of Human Resources Board, Vernon Water Board and as President of Citizens State Bank. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Vernon. He is survived by his wife, Jane Burnett of Vernon; sons, Anthony Burnett and Joseph Burnett, both of Vernon; sister, Anne Hollis of Sulligent; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers are Freddie Burnett, Jeff Miller, Bruce Burnett, Eddie Holley, Danny Hollis and Rod Helms.
